About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Lead Carpenter to join our team. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and can confidently lead a team on-site. You will be responsible for overseeing carpentry projects from start to finish, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget, while also supporting the development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out and oversee all aspects of 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
• Lead, manage, and motivate a team of carpenters and subcontractors
• Train, mentor, and support apprentices, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safe working practices
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Ensure projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard
• Maintain excellent health & safety practices on-site
• Coordinate with site managers, clients, and other trades
• Monitor materials, tools, and workflow to ensure smooth project delivery

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter or Senior Carpenter
• Strong competency in both 1st and 2nd fix carpentry installing joinery & final fixing
• Experience in training or mentoring apprentices or junior carpenters
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to problem-solve and work under pressure
• Full UK driving licence (preferred)

Pay: £35,000.00-£49,000.00 per year
