About: LCMB is a specialist building performance consultancy advising high-profile organisations on estates strategy, facilities management transformation, net zero delivery and major capital programmes. Our work helps universities, NHS organisations, commercial property owners and public sector clients improve how their buildings are operated, maintained and developed. We combine technical expertise with commercial insight to help clients make better decisions and deliver lasting improvements across their estates.
We are looking for a graduate or early-career professional to join our Facilities Management team as a Junior Project Manager. This is an opportunity to start your consulting career working on live, high-profile projects alongside experienced consultants who will support your development from day one.
Role
This is an opportunity to begin a career in facilities management consultancy. Working alongside our senior consultants, you will support the delivery of projects that help clients improve operational performance, reduce costs, strengthen compliance and plan for the future.
From your first few weeks, you will contribute to real consultancy commissions rather than simply observing. You will visit client sites, analyse information, support workshops, prepare reports and see your work inform decisions made by senior client teams.
As your experience grows, so will your responsibility. We will provide the mentoring, training and support needed to develop into a consulting career should you wish to.
Your work will include
- Producing clear reports, spreadsheets and presentations for client commissions
- Supporting facilities management reviews, transformation programmes and mobilisation projects
- Helping to define project objectives, deliverables, responsibilities and timescales
- Developing and maintaining project plans, programmes, milestone trackers and action plans
- Coordinating activities across project teams and following up with colleagues, clients and suppliers to keep work on track
- Monitoring progress against agreed milestones and identifying, recording and escalating risks, issues and delays
- Attending client meetings and workshops, preparing agendas, recording decisions and actions, and following up on agreed outcomes
- Supporting project governance through accurate progress reporting, risk and issue logs, decision records and change-control documentation
- Supporting procurement exercises, contract reviews and business case development
- Visiting client sites to understand building operations and engage with operational teams
- Preparing project documentation, including mobilisation and handover information
- Supporting project cost tracking and maintaining purchase order and invoice logs
- Maintaining project files, document registers and version-controlled information
- Keeping project records accurate, organised and up to date
About you
This role is intended for recent graduates or those with up to two years' relevant experience. We recognise that strong candidates may not meet every criterion. If you can demonstrate relevant capability and believe you could succeed in the role, we encourage you to apply.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- A genuine interest in buildings, facilities management, energyand sustainability
- Curiosity and a desire to understand how buildings and organisations operate
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good Microsoft 365 skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- The confidence to learn new digital tools and data systems
- Good written, verbal and presentation skills
- The ability to manage several workstreams and priorities at the same time
- Self-motivation and initiative, while recognising when to seek advice and support
- The ability to build positive working relationships with people at all levels, from operational teams to senior stakeholders
A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred. Qualifications in project management, building services, property or facilities management are particularly relevant, but we welcome graduates from related disciplines who can demonstrate the aptitude, curiosity and enthusiasm needed to develop a career in consultancy.
Why this role is different
From the outset, you will work on projects that influence how some of the UKβs most significant estates are managed and developed. Rather than being limited to one site or one discipline, you will gain experience across a wide range of sectors and organisations. You will work closely with experienced consultants who will invest in your development, provide regular mentoring and help you build your skills.
