Electro-Motive Diesel are seeking a Technical Services Engineer to join our Engineering team. Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate practical experience gained from a similar role supporting heavy engineering in the field. You'll maintain an excellent level of product knowledge and be relied upon by others to act as a subject matter expert. You will be adaptable, able to share your knowledge and expertise with a variety of stakeholders. As Technical Services Engineer, your day to day will vary as you support on a variety of activities. You could be assisting with fault finding or material identification, conducting supplier audits, performing an assessment of other Technicians technical competences, defining specs or supporting on the creation of bids & proposals.

The role will include:
- Act as lead engineer for contracts, projects or tasks to support operational performance or customer demand
- Take the lead role in progressing specific technical engineering issues, providing guidance to other engineers as necessary
- Proactively monitor & review allocated customer's locomotive fleet to identify improvement opportunities, implement changes as appropriate and drive these to completion
- Carry out Product Audits to confirm the actual standard being achieved and identify improvements
- Support the business development function in generating new business opportunities and maintaining existing customer satisfaction
- Produce accurate and timely reports and documentation as required
What we would love you to bring to the role:
Competencies/Experience- Demonstrable experience gained in a similar position supporting heavy engineering in the field
- Proven track record of working effectively with diesel engineering technology, associated systems and controls.
- Detailed knowledge of company products, particularly electrical/electronic systems and its associated components including EM2000 and software
- Understanding of OPACC and Intellectual Property protection
- Methodical, evidence-based approach to fault finding, problem solving and decision making
- Able to cultivate productive relationships across the organisation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to meet people at all levels with ease and confidence, understanding and accommodating the needs of the customer
- Self-starter, willing to take accountability for own areas of responsibility and work under own initiative
- Well organised with a thorough, disciplined and result-orientated approach to task completion
- Willing and able to be assertive when necessary, whilst maintaining effective working relationships
- Team player, willing to positively contribute through demonstrating and sharing ideas, best practice, knowledge and resources
- Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- BTEC National Certificate / ONC in Engineering or European Equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- You'll need to be based close to our Doncaster depot and have valid right to work in the UK.
