The Cormar Carpet Company is an award-winning, British, family-run business and has been making carpets since 1956 at our two mills in Lancashire. We make and deliver our carpets from our distribution sites in Hemel Hempstead and Bury to over 3,000 Cormar retailers across the UK and Ireland, using our own fleet of vehicles.
Main Duties:
- Contribute to the effective running of Cormar's tufting operation.
- Daily duties include yarn creeling, splicing, and other duties as directed by the Operations Supervisors / Line Manager.
- This may include recycling, baling, general housekeeping, running the yarn winding machines, yarn stripping machines, etc.
Job Involves:
- Mobility for full shift, bending, lifting moderate weights, repeatedly twisting, climbing up and down steps repeatedly.
- Operating basic machinery such as winders, floor cleaners, yarn stripping machines but not Tufting machines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the achievement of organisation and department goals and targets through completion of daily duties to required standards/measures.
- Ensure the targeted performance/completion times for creeling and splicing are measured.
- Ensure product quality is to required standards.
- Flexibly cover team and other duties as required.
- Maintain agreed house-keeping standards.

- Support the Operations Supervisor to deliver the above objectives.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively within the team and in the wider organisation.
- Knowledge of how the department works and how it fits in with the rest of the organisation.
- Ability to work to agreed deadlines.
Hours per week:
- 40 hours on a fortnightly rotating day shift.
- 2.00pm - 10.00pm Sunday - Thursday.
- 6.00am - 2.00pm Monday - Friday.
- Plus reasonable overtime as required.
Salary: The hourly rate is £14.07 and there is a shift allowance of £43.88 per week when on the 2pm - 10pm shift.
Additional benefits:
- Holidays - 31 days holiday, including bank holidays, increasing to 35 days after 5 years service.
