The Cormar Carpet Company is an award-winning, British, family-run business and has been making carpets since 1956 at our two mills in Lancashire. We make and deliver our carpets from our distribution sites in Hemel Hempstead and Bury to over 3,000 Cormar retailers across the UK and Ireland, using our own fleet of vehicles.

Job purpose: The Credit Controller is responsible for ensuring that sales customer accounts are managed in accordance with agreed terms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly statements to customers
  • Manage own book of customers
  • Processing of pro-forma accounts
  • Input and allocation of sales receipts
  • Manage the process of opening new accounts
  • Chasing overdue debt to receipt
  • Taking legal action against customers to recover overdue balances
  • Negotiating repayment plans
  • Review customer credit ratings with online credit agency
  • Trade references
  • Contact customers by telephone, letter and e-mail
  • Build strong relations with customers to ensure excellent customer service
  • Creating and managing a stop list
  • Prepare cheques for banking
  • Interact with other departments
  • Manage customer credit limits
  • Maintaining notes on the accounts system
  • Assist with any sales overflow calls
  • Ad-hoc duties

Ideal Skills / Qualifications:

  • Past experience of credit control
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Excel and Word

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Package:

  • Salary GBP28,000 per annum
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • 31 days holiday, including bank holidays
  • Holiday purchase scheme - 3 days per year
  • Pension after 3 months service - minimum employee contribution 5%, employer matches employees contribution
  • Entitled to join Healthcare cashback scheme after 3 months service
  • Cycle to work scheme
