Credit Controller – Bury – Temporary up to 12 months

The Cormar Carpet Company is an award-winning, British, family-run business and has been making carpets since 1956 at our two mills in Lancashire. We make and deliver our carpets from our distribution sites in Hemel Hempstead and Bury to over 3,000 Cormar retailers across the UK and Ireland, using our own fleet of vehicles. We’ve won over fifty carpet and flooring industry awards, including being voted ‘Best Carpet Manufacturer 2022’ by readers of Interiors Monthly and F1 ‘Carpet Supplier of The Year’ for 13 consecutive years.

Job Purpose: The Credit Controller is responsible for ensuring that sales customer accounts are managed in accordance with agreed terms.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monthly statements to customers
2. Manage own book of customers
3. Processing of pro-forma accounts
4. Input and allocation of sales receipts
5. Manage the process of opening new accounts
6. Chasing overdue debt to receipt
7. Taking legal action against customers to recover overdue balances
8. Negotiating repayment plans
9. Review customer credit ratings with online credit agency
10. Trade references
11. Contact customers by telephone, letter and e-mail
12. Build strong relations with customers to ensure excellent customer service
13. Creating and managing a stop list
14. Prepare cheques for banking
15. Interact with other departments
16. Manage customer credit limits
17. Maintaining notes on the accounts system
18. Assist with any sales overflow calls
19. Ad-hoc duties

Ideal Skills / Qualifications:

1. Past experience of credit control
2. Extensive use of Microsoft Excel and Word

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Package:

1. Salary £28,000 per annum
2. Discretionary annual bonus
3. 31 days holiday, including bank holidays
4. Holiday purchase scheme – 3 days per year
5. Pension after 3 months service – minimum employee contribution 5%, employer matches employees contribution
