About the Team
Field Engineering plays a key role in building, testing and supporting customer access and core networks. This high-performance converged network is essential to deliver services for all commercial and residential customers across the UK, using cutting-edge technology to deliver the best service for our customers. This is a high-performing and dynamic team, with a varied work pattern which includes travel, working at night, 24/7 on-call support and remote work. Team members are expected to support each other, share knowledge and provide reports through KPIs.
About the Role
The purpose of the Field Engineer (FE) is to install, commission and maintain the multi-vendor equipment deployed within the network. They will be responsible for completing all tasks as set by the Regional Field Manager (RFM), Senior Field Engineer (SFE) or TSOC/NOC Engineers. They will be expected to provide onsite co-operation with internal departments and external contractors and form part of a 24/7 on-call rota. This is a dynamic role requiring flexibility in working hours.
What you will be working on
- Install new hardware equipment from a multitude of vendors to support Network expansion.
- Commission new hardware equipment as per vendors' procedures.
- Connect and commission new circuits via fibre optics or Cat5e cable.
- Connect and commission new power circuits via 50 v DC power systems.
- Fault analysis of all service affecting faults to a satisfactory resolution (including network and power related issues).
- Identify specific issues with space & power that may prevent further equipment installations.
- Ensure the welfare and H & S of themselves and colleagues.
- QA equipment installation to ensure standards are adhered to.
- Perform self-scheduling of work tasks (for BAU and project when required).
- Ensure budgets are adhered to and challenge spend.
