About the Role- Supervise any of the following shifts: Midnight Shift (Midnight to 8AM), Afternoon Shift (4PM to 12AM), Day Shift (8AM to 4PM) and extended hours with minimal notice. Must be flexible to supervise any of the three shifts on a rotational basis.
- Plan, organize, schedule and allocate resources to meet workload requirements (shipping, receiving, order processing – ensure all areas involved are staffed and equipped to meet service requirements), other duties as assigned.
- Monitor and maintain applicable warehouse functions by ensuring daily operational goals are met through the assignment of duties, allocation of staff and effective utilization of equipment.
- Supervise the activities of unionized employees.
- Ensure that all staff observe and work to specified safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to work overtime on a rotational basis for weekends or before/after shifts.
- May be required to supervise the facility on an acting basis for an Operations Manager.
- 3+ years supervisory experience in automated warehousing operations distribution, including experience at the supervisory level in a unionized environment obtained through education, or equivalent previous supervisory work experience.
- Knowledge of distribution, shipping and delivery procedures; understanding of warehouse management fundamentals and inventory management.
- Knowledge of conveyor systems and materials handling equipment.
- Prepare related operational administrative work (i.e. records, forms and documentation).
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, along with employee relations skills.
- Proficiency in Manhattan WM systems and SCI reporting is a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS.
- A valid St. John’s Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate or equivalent and/or the ability to obtain certification.
