About the Role
They are seeking to appoint a talented solicitor at Associate, Senior Associate, or Legal Director level to join their Public Sector practice team in Manchester.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with public sector clients on a broad mix of public law and commercial matters, particularly around governance, decision-making, and statutory powers.
- Support on complex and high-value procurement exercises, particularly in relation to development, regeneration, and concession-based projects.
- Draft and negotiate key procurement documentation, ensuring compliance while taking a pragmatic, solutions-led approach.
- Provide guidance on procurement risk, including direct awards, contract modifications, and navigating regulatory frameworks.
- Work closely with clients to deliver commercially focused outcomes within a public law environment.
- Support, mentor, and train junior lawyers, and contribute to internal and external learning initiatives.
- Participate in business development initiatives to help drive the growth of the team.
Qualifications:
- A qualified solicitor with strong experience advising local and/or central government authorities on public law and commercial issues.
- A solid understanding of how government bodies operate, including the legal and practical considerations that influence decision-making.
- Comfortable navigating the intersection of law, policy, and commercial outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, with an interest in mentoring and supervising more junior lawyers.
- Commercially minded, with a proactive approach to client service and building relationships.
