A well-established and highly regarded specialist private client firm based in East Birmingham are looking to appoint an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically strong, collaborative practice that specialises exclusively in private client work. The firm is recognised for handling complex, high-value matters and advising high-net-worth individuals, trustees and families on sophisticated estate and tax planning issues.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of private client matters, with exposure to high-quality and often complex work. The successful candidate will join a supportive and knowledgeable team environment where technical development is encouraged. The role offers genuine breadth, including estate planning, trust work and tax planning, with scope to be involved in more complex and cross-border matters depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting wills and advising on estate and succession planning
  • Managing probate and estate administration matters
  • Advising trustees on trust creation and ongoing administration
  • Providing tax-efficient planning advice (including IHT, CGT and income tax considerations)
  • Drafting and advising on Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Supporting on more complex or contentious private client matters where appropriate
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and delivering a high standard of client care

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Strong background in private client work
  • Experience handling wills, probate and trust matters
  • Good working knowledge of inheritance tax and related tax issues
  • Ability to manage matters independently
  • Strong drafting and communication skills
  • STEP qualification (or working towards)
  • Experience advising high-net-worth clients
  • Exposure to complex or international estates
