About Camden
Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. Weāre home to the most important conversations happening today and weāre making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Hereās where you can help decide a better future for us all.
What Youāll Be Doing
As an Income Officer, you will provide a personācentred housing income collection service that supports residents across the borough to sustain their tenancies and maintain financial stability. You will take a proactive approach to managing rent accounts, stepping in early to prevent arrears, offering practical guidance, and responding sensitively to individual needs. This role combines supportive work with firm income recovery, from helping tenants maximise their income and resolve issues at an early stage, to managing complex cases that may require legal action, court attendance or enforcement. Using sound judgement, strong communication skills and a solid understanding of welfare benefits, housing policy and incomeāmanagement processes, you will balance empathy with accountability ensuring rent is collected efficiently while promoting positive outcomes for residents. This is a rewarding, fastāpaced role where you will make a meaningful difference to tenantsā lives and contribute to the overall financial resilience of Camdenās housing services. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offences Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
All About You
Weāre looking for someone who is enthusiastic about our ambition to make Camden the best place to live and work, and who is passionate about delivering services in a relational, residentāfocused way. You care deeply about housing equality and believe everyone deserves a safe, warm home and a sense of belonging in their community. You take a proactive approach, stepping in early to support residents, preventing issues before they escalate, and creating positive change rather than waiting for it. You keep services accessible, approachable and transparent, always going the extra mile to meet diverse needs and connecting residents to the right support. Your approach is caring and personācentred; you listen, understand and act with residentsā wellbeing in mind. Collaboration is at the heart of how you work; you value the insight residents bring and ensure their voices shape the services they receive. You will bring a good understanding of welfare benefits, strong communication and safeguarding awareness, confidence with digital tools, and the ability to work across teams to deliver inclusive, efficient and financially responsible housing services.
