Lead Camden’s Future
At Camden, we don’t just deliver services—we work alongside communities to challenge injustice and drive real social change. Our shared vision — We Make Camden — aims to create a fairer, more inclusive borough where everyone has a voice and where power is shared. We are now recruiting two exceptional senior leaders to help deliver this ambition.
About the role
As Director of Economy, Regeneration and Investment, you will provide strategic leadership across Camden’s planning, regeneration, inclusive economy, arts and culture, and investment portfolios, shaping the borough’s long-term economic and spatial future. Working through a strong and experienced senior leadership team, you will set a clear vision for place-based regeneration that delivers growth, fairness and long-term value for Camden’s communities.
You will drive the Inclusive Growth Strategy, creating pathways into good work, supporting local enterprise and ensuring communities benefit directly from investment and development. You will oversee one of the council’s largest planning functions, lead major regeneration and infrastructure programmes, and act as a senior ambassador for London Borough of Camden, building effective partnerships and securing investment in a challenging fiscal environment.
About you
You will be a credible, values-driven senior leader with experience of leading complex portfolios in a major urban context, with a strong understanding of regeneration, planning, economic development or investment. You will be politically astute, confident influencing senior stakeholders and partners, and capable of navigating competing priorities while maintaining focus on long-term outcomes.
Relational in your leadership style, you will bring people together around a shared purpose and have a strong commitment to equality, inclusive growth and community life. You will share Camden’s values and be motivated by the opportunity to use regeneration and economic growth as tools to improve outcomes for residents.
What We Offer
At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits. From flexible working to 27 days annual leave (+ bank holidays!). We also know that a work life balance is extremely important so we also offer family leave, loan schemes and access to our incredible staff networks. We also have an incredible pensions scheme.
Inclusion and Belonging
At Camden, we want every colleague to feel they belong and can thrive. We welcome applications from all parts of our community, and particularly encourage people from Black, Asian and Other Ethnic Heritage communities, LGBTQ+ people, disabled and neurodiverse people, survivors of domestic abuse, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds or with care experience. We know that different voices and perspectives make us stronger, and we are committed to providing the support, adjustments and flexibility people need to succeed.
Asking for Adjustments
At Camden, we are committed to making our recruitment process barrier-free and accessible for everyone. If you need us to do something differently during the application, interview or assessment process, just let us know and we will support you. This could include providing information in an alternative format, extra time in assessments, or adjustments for disabled, neurodiverse or long-term health conditions.
Please contact us on 020 7974 6655, resourcing@camden.gov.uk or by post to 5 Pancras Square, London, N1C 4AG. We’ll work with you to make sure the process works for you.
