Ashcroft Technology Academy (ATA) is looking to appoint Teaching and Learning Assistants to support teaching provision for those students with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Special Educational Needs.

Ashcroft Technology Academy is an exceptional and heavily oversubscribed school, recognised in its most recent OFSTED inspection (2025) as providing an "Exceptional" quality of education, behaviour and achievement. Inspectors found that pupils "achieve highly across a very wide range of subjects", that attendance and behaviour are maintained at exceptionally high standards, and that leaders have a "transformational impact" in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed for future success.

The Academy is particularly proud of its inclusive approach, with the inspection recognising that disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and disabilities make "excellent progress through the curriculum". As a result, Ashcroft Technology Academy offers a rare opportunity to work within a truly exceptional learning community where inclusion, achievement and aspiration are at the heart of everything we do.

As part of a skilled and committed team of Teaching and Learning Assistants, the successful candidates will play a vital role in supporting students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. They will provide flexible support to students with Education Health and Care Plans. The successful candidates will also support a range of students in and out of the classroom, ensuring that learners with special needs have full access to the National Curriculum.

Applicants will be expected to have good literacy/numeracy skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment. They should possess excellent personal organisation and ICT skills and have the ability to liaise confidently with staff, parents/carers and external agencies in a commitment to raise student achievement. An ability to identify barriers to student learning and to develop ways of overcoming these is essential. The successful candidates will be confident in working with young people in a school environment and with students who may be in difficult circumstances.

There may also be opportunities for applicants with subject-specific expertise, relevant qualifications, or a particular academic interest to focus their support within certain curriculum areas. This could include working more closely within specific departments to help students access subject content and achieve strong academic outcomes.

All posts are 36½ hrs per week for 40 weeks per year although part time working may also be considered. Some flexibility in working hours will be required including supporting a few evening meetings during the academic year.

If you would like to be a part of this team, further details and an application form are available from our website or telephone us on.

You should complete the application form electronically and email it to arrive no later than noon on Monday 22 June 2026.

Closing Date: 22 June 2026 (at noon)

Interviews will take place soon after the closing date. We reserve the right to bring forward the closing date as applications will be considered on receipt, so early application is advised.

All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance. ATA safeguards children and actively promotes their welfare. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

ATA is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from minority groups and also has full disabled access.
