To work with named pupils with EHCPs

  • 32.5 hours per week LSA (8.30-3.30pm)
  • (half hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Term time only (39 weeks)
  • Permanent

We are seeking to appoint a strong and adaptable SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with pupils with an Education, Health and Care plan and to fulfil the role of a midday meal supervisor. You must possess excellent literacy and numeracy skills, as well as a solid understanding of early reading and phonics. In addition, a working knowledge of how to support pupils with language and communication difficulties, social communication, cognition and learning and social skills is essential. You would be working under the direction of the class teacher and Senco.

You will be required to support children\'s learning and development, help to plan and organise activities and the learning environment as well as contribute to the overall ethos of the school. You will also be required to participate in training and other learning activities as necessary and undertake first aid training.

Experience of working with children with SEN is desirable and you should have experience of working with children in a mainstream educational setting. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge/understanding of the needs of such pupils described above.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • successful SEN practice in a primary setting working flexibly as part of a team initiative and be able to work independently working successfully with individuals and groups of pupils in class, and on the playground supporting pupils with additional needs and deliver interventions.
  • the ability to follow all school policies, in particular Safeguarding, Behaviour and KCSIE.

This post would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, an aspiring teacher or recent graduate. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to progress towards teacher training.
