Associate – London

Lazard is seeking to recruit an Associate to join the AMCI Team in London. The Associate will report to senior bankers on each transaction. You will be responsible for the day-to-day support of marketing efforts and transaction execution and have a central role on client interactions. The Associate will contribute to the team’s collegial culture, with a focus on collaboration and talent development.

The AMCI team in London works across a highly international client and project base, advising on transactions throughout continental Europe, China, MEA and North America. The team benefits from strong and consistent deal flow, offering hands‑on deal exposure across both buy‑ and sell‑side M&A. Our work spans a broad range of industries and end‑markets and is closely coordinated with Lazard colleagues across global offices, giving team members meaningful cross‑border collaboration and visibility, including travel as project needs arise.

• Analytical & Technical Excellence

  • Apply strong technical and analytical skills across qualitative and quantitative data

  • Build financial models with ease — researching, analysing, sensitising, and adapting both internal and client-prepared financial and statistical analyses

  • Independently develop sound and logical commercial views, with a detailed appreciation of both the big picture and the minutiae, and alertness to industry developments and their implications

• Strong Execution Capability

  • Drive the day-to-day execution of transactions, operating within lean and agile deal teams and interfacing directly with senior bankers on a day-to-day basis

  • Support due diligence efforts and identify issues as they arise, offering potential solutions

  • Build productive relationships with clients and advisers throughout the transaction lifecycle

  • Support senior bankers on an ad hoc basis with various reports and analyses

• Effective Client Communication and Materials Preparation

  • Assist in the production of presentations and marketing materials for clients and prospective clients, in consultation with team members

  • Use your own knowledge and judgement to enhance materials with relevant insights, where appropriate

  • Communicate effectively and appropriately, turning ideas into concise and comprehensive materials

  • Quality check finished products for content, consistency and grammar prior to delivery

• Management & Development of Juniors

  • Support the day-to-day management, supervision and development of Analysts, including delegation of work and active oversight of information reported upward to Vice Presidents and above

  • Take responsibility for the accuracy of work produced by junior bankers before final delivery to senior bankers and clients

  • Act as a role model for Analysts

You will need to have:

• At least four years of M&A transaction experience in an investment banking environment (no prior sector knowledge is necessary, although preferred);

• A solid understanding of financial modelling and processes that support the M&A approach – e.g. valuations, company overviews;

• Strong knowledge of finance and accounting practices;

• Fluency with AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance analysis, research and workflow efficiency while maintaining a high quality and integrity of output;

• High standards of professional and ethical conduct and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements of the banking environment;

• Strong written and verbal communication in English; and

• A minimum 2:1 undergraduate university degree classification (or equivalent if studied outside the UK).
