Overview:
A leading public sector organisation is seeking a highly experienced AWS Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimisation of complex network architectures spanning on-premise and cloud environments. You will play a key role in delivering resilient, scalable, and secure network solutions across multi-tenant infrastructures.
Location: Initial 6 weeks 2 days onsite Newcastle. Followed by x1 a month Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement complex network topologies in AWS, ensuring resilience, scalability, high availability, and secure multi-tenancy.
- Configure and manage AWS networking services, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, DHCP, VPC peering, NACLs, Network Firewall, and Traffic Mirroring.
- Apply deep knowledge of foundational network protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, and network topology design.
- Write and maintain Terraform scripts for network provisioning and deployment, implementing Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to optimise network performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate networking solutions into complex transformation projects.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 15+ years in networking, with extensive hands-on expertise in AWS networking and hybrid cloud environments.
- AWS Networking: Proven track record designing and implementing AWS network architectures leveraging core AWS networking services.
- Foundational Networking: Strong grasp of traditional networking concepts: topology, TCP/IP, routing, DNS, etc.
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform to automate network deployments.
- Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and connectivity issues.
- Transformation Projects: Experience leading or contributing to large-scale network transformations in enterprise or public sector environments.
- SC Clearance desirable
