Information about the business and team? Our Client is a global energy company operating across oil, gas, and renewables, with a strong focus on digital transformation and innovation within its legal and compliance functions. The legal engineering and cyber teams are increasingly leveraging technology, automation, and data-driven approaches to improve efficiency, manage risk, and support complex global operations.

What does the client need help with? Due to the launch and acceleration of multiple legal technology pilots, you will support the business as it embeds legal engineering capability across key use cases. The team has already kicked off pilot programmes with sponsor groups and is now seeing increased demand for dedicated resource over the next six months to maintain momentum, structure delivery, and ensure effective capture of outcomes.

What will the role involve? This is a hands-on legal engineering role embedded within active pilot programmes, where you will take ownership of delivery, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation across multiple initiatives. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Taking a proactive approach to driving pilot progress, ensuring key milestones are met without waiting for direction
  • Leading on project planning, including building clear roadmaps and tracking delivery against timelines
  • Developing and applying evaluation frameworks to assess tools, vendors, and outcomes
  • Engaging with vendors to challenge assumptions, validate integrations, and ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Supporting multiple concurrent workstreams, including deep dives into specific use cases and technical platforms
  • Designing and facilitating workshops (e.g. with cyber teams) to align on requirements and use case development
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to embed solutions effectively within business processes
  • Ensuring key data, learnings, and outputs from pilots are properly captured and communicated
  • Operating across multiple meetings and stakeholder groups, often simultaneously, to maintain pace and alignment

What skills do they need? You will be a commercially minded legal engineer or lawyer with strong project delivery capability and experience working closely with legal teams. You will bring a blend of technical understanding and legal process insight, alongside the confidence to challenge stakeholders and drive outcomes. Key experience includes:

  • Prior experience working with lawyers, either in private practice or in-house
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience supporting or delivering pilot programmes or innovation initiatives
  • Familiarity with legal technology platforms, systems, and emerging agent-based solutions
  • Solid business analysis and process mapping capability
  • Ability to operate independently, using initiative to push workstreams forward
  • Comfort managing change in fast-paced, evolving environments
