We’re looking for an Interim Head of Legal (Property) to join our client, a leading property investment and development group, to support them for at least 6 months. This is a critical role providing senior legal leadership during a period of transition, supporting a substantial, residential‑led portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior property lawyer who enjoys combining strategic influence with hands‑on delivery in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and sitting on the Senior Management Team, you will lead across legal, compliance, and governance matters, ensuring continuity and momentum across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the senior legal advisor on property and commercial matters
- Providing both strategic guidance and day‑to‑day legal support
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of property and commercial agreements
- Leading and developing a small in‑house legal team
- Advising on governance, regulatory compliance, and best practice standards
- Supporting a for‑profit Registered Provider with legal and strategic input
- Managing property transactions, licences, consents, and enquiries
- Advising on disputes, escalated complaints, and complex issues
About You
- Senior qualified lawyer with significant experience in residential property portfolios
- Strong grounding in commercial property matters
- Proven expertise in property disputes, compliance, and governance
- Experience working with or alongside Registered Providers (highly desirable)
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and board‑level audiences
