We're looking for an Interim Legal Counsel to join our client, an innovative energy technology business, to support an increase of new Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects across Europe. As the volume of BESS-related transactions increases, they require additional legal expertise to manage complex commercial, risk, and transactional matters linked to energy storage projects, investor arrangements, and cross-border activity.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on a range of BESS-related deals.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts, including: BESS optimisation agreements; Tolling agreements; Direct agreements with lenders; Power supply contracts.
  • Providing legal support on M&A and fundraising transactions.
  • Managing corporate governance tasks such as drafting board resolutions and powers of attorney.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and commercial risks.
  • Supporting operations across the Nordics, Netherlands, and wider Europe.
  • Liaising with business stakeholders, external counsel, and service providers across multiple jurisdictions.

Ideally you will have

  • Prior experience in BESS, or a background in Energy, Infrastructure, or Project Finance.
  • Strong capabilities in commercial contracting, particularly across multiple jurisdictions.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time preferred, but part-time may be considered.
  • Fully remote role.
