- PO9 salary: £78,266 per annum, rising to £88,090 inclusive of market supplement up to £10,000.

Responsibilities
- Manage a team of staff and oversee a busy, challenging caseload.
- Lead, direct, develop, and continually improve the legal service delivered to operational teams, primarily in planning, highways, and property.
- Ensure provision of an excellent standard of service and value for money to the council.
- Collaborate with third‐party providers to establish strong relationships and secure favourable outcomes.
- Support the Assistant Director of Legal Services on corporate activities and transformation plans.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor, barrister or fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or equivalent).
- Experience in public sector is preferred but private sector applicants are welcome.
- Good experience in planning or property work.
- Proven team‐leadership skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines under pressure.
- Highly organised, proactive, flexible and committed to delivering high‐quality legal support.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
