Role Overview

We are recruiting a Telesales colleague to join our Whetstone branch. This is a customer-facing, office-based role focused on generating sales, nurturing relationships with trade and retail customers over the phone, and supporting branch targets. The successful candidate will be confident, target-driven and able to deliver excellent service while accurately processing orders and enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively contact existing and prospective customers to promote products, services and special offers, aiming to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Manage inbound customer enquiries promptly and professionally, providing product knowledge, pricing information and accurate advice.
  • Process telephone and online orders accurately using branch systems, ensuring correct pricing, availability and delivery or collection arrangements.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, following up on leads and enquiries to maximise repeat business and customer retention.
  • Work closely with the branch team, yard and transport colleagues to co‑ordinate deliveries, resolve issues and ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Record customer interactions and update CRM or branch systems with accurate notes, next actions and follow‑up dates.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross‑sell products relevant to customer needs and report market feedback to the branch manager.
  • Contribute to team sales targets and performance monitoring, attending sales meetings and training as required.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including data protection, health and safety and quality standards.

Person Specification

  • Proven extensive experience in telesales working at a builder merchants. (Essential).
  • A current ledger that can be transferred with you.
  • Confident and clear telephone manner with excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Target‑driven and resilient with the ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience in Telesales to be able to turn over £100k per month in Sales.
  • Good planning and organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • IT literate with experience of CRM systems, order processing platforms or Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to confidently discuss product ranges and pricing with customers.
  • Team player who collaborates effectively with colleagues across the branch to achieve shared goals.
  • Committed to delivering excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

Working Hours, Salary and Benefits

  • Full‑time, permanent position based at our Whetstone branch.
  • Typical hours working Monday to Friday between 07.30 - 17.00 and 1 in 3 Saturdays working 08.00 - 12.00.
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience (£38,000 - £42,000).
  • 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays and an additional celebration day, rising with service in line with company policy.
