About the Yard Operative Role in Acton
As a Yard Operative at our Acton branch, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless operations within our busy yard. Your responsibilities will be vital in maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient environment, delivering excellent service to both customers and colleagues while supporting all aspects of materials handling, stock movement, and branch logistics.
Location & Working Hours for Yard Operative Jobs β Acton
This is a full-time position located in Acton – 2/4 Colville Rd, London, W3 8BL.
Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00, plus 1 in 2 Saturdays 08.00 – 12.00 = 44.5 hours per week.
Yard Operative Salary & Benefits β Acton
Salary range Β£28,971 – Β£29,500, dependent on experience

Main Responsibilities of a Yard Operative β Acton Branch
Unload and safely store goods delivered to the branch, ensuring stock is managed and recorded accurately
Assist with receiving, checking, and preparing customer orders for collection and delivery
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the yard, warehouse, and loading/unloading areas
Follow all Health & Safety and company policies at all times, including the correct use of PPE
Operate forklifts and similar equipment safely (training and licensing provided if required)
Deliver outstanding customer service to suppliers, customers, and colleagues
Support regular stock counts and help with inventory management under branch supervision
Work flexibly across other yard and branch tasks as needed and demonstrate a collaborative team approach
Essential Skills & Experience for Yard Operative Roles
Experience in a yard, warehouse, buildersβ merchant, or comparable environment is essential
FLT licence is also essential
A full UK Driving License is essential as the forklifts operate on public roads.
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Physically able to perform manual handling duties and work in an outdoor environment
Proactive attitude, with a focus on customer service and safety
Reliability, punctuality, and the flexibility to accommodate occasional overtime
Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and contribute positively to the team
