Role overview

We are recruiting a Telesales team member to join our Camden branch. This is a high profile customer-facing, office-based role responsible for handling inbound and outbound sales calls, processing orders, providing product and technical information, and supporting branch sales activity to achieve revenue and service targets.

Working hours

Full time, permanent position. Typical hours will be Monday to Friday and 1 in 2 Saturday mornings working 08.00 – 12.00.

Main Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound customer enquiries promptly and professionally, converting leads into sales and providing accurate product information.
  • Proactively make outbound calls to existing and potential customers to generate orders, follow up quotations and drive repeat business.
  • Process customer orders accurately using the company order management system and ensure timely communication of order status.
  • Upsell and cross-sell the Lawsons product range and additional services where appropriate to maximise revenue and margin.
  • Work closely with branch colleagues, yard and delivery teams to coordinate fulfilment, resolve issues and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and update customer records, call logs and sales activity within the CRM system to support forecasting and reporting.
  • Meet individual and team sales targets, KPIs and performance metrics set by the branch and central teams.
  • Provide feedback on customer trends, competitor activity and product demand to help inform branch merchandising and promotions.
  • Adhere to company policies, data protection requirements and health and safety guidance at all times.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Proven telesales, inside sales or customer service experience, ideally within builders’ merchants, timber, landscaping or related sectors.
  • Strong communication and telephone manner with the ability to build rapport quickly and professionally.
  • Commercially aware with a focus on achieving sales targets and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Good IT literacy and experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Office and telephony platforms.
  • Organised, resilient and able to manage a varied workload while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Team player who collaborates effectively with branch and operations colleagues.
  • Willingness to undertake product and systems training to broaden knowledge and capability.
