Briants of Princes Risborough is delighted to welcome applications for a new HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver. As a trusted independent supplier to the landscaping, fencing, and construction sectors, we are looking for a dedicated and responsible driver to deliver outstanding service and ensure the safe, timely transport of goods to our valued customers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver building and landscaping materials to customer sites and private properties in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
- Operate Hiab/lorry‑mounted cranes to load and unload goods, ensuring compliance with safety procedures at all times.
- Complete all relevant delivery paperwork and digital records accurately for each job.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks, reporting any defects or concerns to management promptly.
- Ensure the vehicle, crane, and equipment are maintained in excellent condition and suitable for each delivery task.
- Provide a positive, helpful, and respectful service to all customers, keeping them informed of any delays or issues.
- Assist with stock handling, loading/unloading, or yard duties at the Princes Risborough branch when required.
- Promote and adhere to all site Health and Safety regulations for the protection of yourself, colleagues, and customers.
Essential Skills, Experience and Attributes
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence with a good driving record and recent experience in a similar delivery role at a builders merchants is essential.
- Current Hiab (lorry‑mounted crane) certificate is essential; practical working experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety procedures, load security, and safe operating practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and customers from all backgrounds.
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining high standards of customer service and workplace safety.
- Ability to carry out manual handling duties, including securing loads and occasional lifting of goods.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to support branch operations and uphold company values in all duties.
Hours, Salary and Benefits
- Full‑time hours, Monday to Friday 07.00 – 17.00, with 1 in 2 Saturday morning shifts 08.00 – 12.00.
- Competitive hourly rate or annual salary (£36,000 – £38,000) depending on skills, experience and relevant licences.
