We are seeking a Branch / Sales Supervisor to join our The Landscape Centre team. This is a customer-facing, supervisory role responsible for leading branch sales activity, supporting the day-to-day running of the branch, coaching and managing a small team, and ensuring an excellent customer experience for trade and retail customers. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially focused and approachable, able to represent the company professionally while maintaining high standards of merchandising, stock control and health & safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support branch colleagues to deliver excellent customer service, providing coaching, direction and performance feedback to meet sales and service targets.
- Lead by example on the sales floor, actively engaging with customers to understand requirements, promote products and services, upsell where appropriate and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage daily branch activities including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, till reconciliation and end-of-day reporting in line with company processes.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising, stock presentation and product knowledge to maximise sales and create an appealing customer environment.
- Oversee stock management tasks such as stock receiving, cycle counts, replenishment, returns and minimising shrinkage; ensure accurate stock records.
- Support ordering and liaise with suppliers and internal teams to ensure product availability and timely replenishment for trade and retail customers.
- Ensure compliance with company health & safety policies, safe systems of work and site-specific requirements; carry out regular safety checks and report incidents promptly.
- Assist with local branch marketing activities, promotions and events to drive footfall and sales, and support community and trade relationships.
- Provide cover for other branch duties as required, including assisting in the yard, loading and unloading deliveries and supporting transport handovers.
- Use branch IT systems and handheld devices to process transactions, manage stock and complete required administrative tasks accurately and promptly.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in a retail or trade sales environment, ideally within garden, landscaping or DIY sectors, with a strong focus on customer service and sales delivery.
- Experience supervising or coaching a small team, with the ability to motivate colleagues and manage performance fairly and consistently.
- Commercially aware with a track record of achieving sales targets, driving margin improvement and promoting add-on products and services.
- Good organisational skills, able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a busy branch environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; professional and approachable when dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Practical, hands‑on approach and physically able to assist with manual handling tasks, yard duties and outdoor work in varying weather.
- Basic IT literacy to use EPOS systems, stock management software and handheld devices; comfortable with everyday administration.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including early starts and occasional Saturdays to cover branch requirements.

Working Hours, Salary and Benefits
- Full-time, permanent position based at The Landscape Centre branch. Working hours will be Mon - Fri 07.30 - 17.00, plus 1 in 2 Saturdays 08.00 - 12.00.
