Counter Sales Job Opportunity in Acton

As a Counter Sales team member at our Acton branch, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional customer service and sales support on the trade counter. We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused individual who will deliver excellent service to our trade and retail customers, helping them with product advice, accurate order processing, and ensuring a positive experience with every visit.

Working Hours for Counter Sales Role

This position is full-time, working Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 17:00, with alternate Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00. You will be part of a friendly, enthusiastic team, committed to supporting one another in achieving shared goals.

Branch Location – 2/4 Colville Rd, London, W3 8BL.

Main Responsibilities – Counter Sales Position

Deliver outstanding customer service to all customers, offering product knowledge and advice to meet their needs.

Efficiently process orders, quotations, and sales transactions at the trade counter using the company CRM/EPOS system.

Support product merchandising, promotional displays, and ensure that the counter area is well-presented and tidy at all times.

Build and maintain lasting relationships with trade and retail customers to encourage repeat business.

Proactively identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities to maximise sales growth and branch profitability.

Assist with stock control processes, stock rotations, and regular inventory checks.

Work closely with warehouse and yard staff to ensure seamless customer collections and order fulfilment.

Act promptly to resolve any customer queries or issues in a professional and positive manner.

Ensure compliance with all company procedures, health & safety regulations, and industry best practice. #hp

Skills and Experience – What We’re Looking For in a Counter Sales Team Member

Previous experience in a Builders Merchant, trade counter, retail sales, or a similar customer-facing sales environment (essential).

Friendly manner, excellent communication skills, and a strong team player.

Quick learner with good product knowledge, or willingness to learn about timber, building materials, and associated products.

Good numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail when processing orders and handling payments.

Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, with effective problem-solving skills.

Confident using computer systems for sales transactions and enquiries.
