We have a fantastic opportunity in Oxford for a passionate Assistant Branch Manager to support the smooth running of our busy fencing supplies branch. Location and Working Hours β Based at Oxford Fencing Supplies, Kingston Business Park, Kingston Bagpuize, Abingdon, OX13 5AS. Full-time, permanent position: Monday to Friday 07:30 β 17:00 plus alternate Saturdays 08:00 β 12:30 (44.5 hours per week). Salary & Benefits β Competitive salary package (Β£37,000 – Β£42,000, dependant on experience) 25 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays and 1 additional Celebration Day per year. Key Responsibilities – Support the Branch Manager in achieving branch targets for sales, customer service, stock management, and profitability. Contribute to daily operations: supervise staff, motivate the team, and ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service. Act as a role model for health & safety best practice and uphold company standards for site appearance and compliance. Manage resources efficiently, including stock levels, logistics and branch administration. Develop positive relationships with customers, proactively resolving issues and seeking opportunities to grow business with both trade and retail clients. Assist with recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing coaching of colleagues to promote high performance and personal development. Support financial and audit controls, being vigilant to loss prevention, compliance, and process improvement opportunities. Contribute feedback and ideas to continually enhance branch performance and the customer experience. Skills & Experience β What Weβre Looking For in Our Next Assistant Branch Manager Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant manager position in building supplies, timber, fencing, or a similar environment is essential. Confident and supportive leader, with a positive approach to motivating and developing colleagues. Proven customer service skills and ability to build rapport quickly with people from all backgrounds. Strong commercial mindset β understands how to drive sales, manage costs, and deliver against KPIs. Organised, resilient, and able to work well in a fast-moving, hands-on setting. Numerate and IT literate; experience with order processing, stock management, and CRM systems is a plus. Practical and safety conscious, with a keen eye for operational detail and a can-do attitude.
