Role Overview
We are recruiting a Branch Supervisor to join our Romford branch. This is an operational and customer-facing role responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in the day-to-day running of the branch, supervising the team, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the branch meets commercial and safety targets.
Working hours
Full time, permanent position. Typical hours will be Monday to Friday with 1 in 2 Saturday mornings 08.00 - 12.00. Exact hours to be discussed at interview.

Main Responsibilities
- Support the Branch Manager in achieving branch sales and profit targets, driving commercial performance and identifying growth opportunities.
- Supervise, coach and develop branch staff, ensuring high standards of customer service, product knowledge and operational performance.
- Ensure efficient stock control including receiving, checking, storing and replenishing products and minimising stock loss.
- Oversee day-to-day branch operations including deliveries, dispatch, yard safety and housekeeping to maintain a safe working environment.
- Deliver excellent customer service in-person and by telephone, resolving enquiries and building strong customer relationships.
- Ensure all paperwork and systems (sales orders, returns, invoicing) are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Promote and enforce company health and safety policies and report any incidents, near misses or hazards in line with procedures.
- Assist with recruitment, induction and performance management activities as required.
- Identify local sales opportunities and work with the branch team to convert leads into repeat business.
- Provide cover for the Branch Manager during absences and ensure continuity of service and operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a branch, retail or distribution environment, ideally within builders’ merchants, timber, landscaping or related sectors.
- Customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good numeracy and IT literacy, comfortable using stock systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
- Ability to lead by example, motivate a team and maintain high standards of service and safety.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
