As a Yard Operative, you’ll help to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the yard, support your colleagues, and deliver a great experience for our customers.
Main Responsibilities- Provide a friendly, professional service by assisting customers in the yard, including product selection and safe loading of vehicles.
- Safely load, unload, and store building materials, timber, and fencing products to ensure efficient stock management.
- Support with receipt and dispatch of deliveries, checking goods for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain accurate records for goods-in and help support the branch in compliance procedures.
- Keep the yard clean, organised and free from hazards, upholding health and safety standards at all times.
- Work as part of a collaborative team, supporting colleagues and helping out across branch operations when required.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself, visitors, and your team.
- Positively represent Lawsons through good communication and a helpful approach with customers and partners.
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, or similar environment (essential).
- A valid forklift licence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Physically able to safely lift and move building products.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to quality service.
- Keen to learn, adaptable, and ready to follow all health and safety policies.
- Positive, professional, and a genuine team player.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00, with alternate Saturday mornings (08:00 – 12:00).
