NIJAC is inviting applications for the office of Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP) Northern Ireland.

It is intended to appoint 1 fee-paid Adjudicator (Legal Member) and to maintain a reserve list for 12 months from the anticipated date of appointment (February 2026). Full-time and flexible working (for example term-time) will be considered.

To be eligible for appointment as an Adjudicator (Legal Member) to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP) is to by the 10 November 2025

  • A member of the Bar of Northern Ireland of at least 7 years’ standing; or
  • A solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland of at least 7 years’ standing.
  • You are also subject to the statutory retirement age for the office (75 years) and nationality requirements. Please note that eligibility on the grounds of nationality will be determined as at the closing date to applications which is (10 November 2025).

The fee paid is £308 per sessional sitting (half day) or £615.17 per day.
