Explore your full potential. Lawrie Veterinary Group is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing team. This role will be based across all four of our sites—in Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Laurieston, and our newly opened clinic in Bo’ness. We offer a wide range of services to small animals, with a varied and stimulating caseload of both first opinion and referral cases. Our team also has a particular interest in exotic species, making this an exciting opportunity for those looking to broaden their experience in this area.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team within a well-established, multi-site practice that prides itself on high standards of patient and client care. The role offers exposure to a broad mix of clinical work—from preventative care and diagnostics to surgery and emergency treatment—alongside ongoing opportunities for professional development. We value strong communication skills, a team-focused attitude, and a genuine passion for small animal practice. Previous experience with exotics is a bonus, but not essential.
Role and responsibilities- Provide high-quality care for small animals with exposure to a broad mix of clinical work, including preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, and emergency treatment.
- Support and collaborate with a multi-site team to maintain high standards of patient and client care.
- Develop experience in exotic species where interests exist or pursue relevant professional development.
The full-time rota for this position will include working 40 hours over 4 days per week; part-time hours can be discussed for the right candidate. Typically, you will be working two operating shifts and two consulting shifts per week. Weekends are on a rota basis and we cover our own inpatients during evenings and weekends. There is no out-of-hours or on-call requirement.
About the practiceLawrie Veterinary Group is a thriving small animal and exotic practice with well-established sites in Cumbernauld and Falkirk, alongside our recently expanded facilities, including a second Falkirk premises and a branch in Bo’ness. Our new Falkirk location houses a unique Healthy Pet Centre. We are perfectly positioned between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with excellent transport links by road and rail, making it an ideal base for work-life balance.
Our dedicated and friendly team includes a Clinical Director, 9 Veterinary Surgeons (including four Senior Vets), 16 Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Care Assistants, 8 Receptionists, and 2 Practice Managers. We have certificate holders in exotics, dermatology, surgery, and dentistry, and we are committed to nurturing each team member’s individual areas of interest.
