About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Footwear/Slipper Designer & Developer to support our Design & Product Development team in creating commercially successful footwear collections for a wide range of global brands and retailers.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a fast-paced footwear design and manufacturing agency.

You will gain exposure to every stage of the product development process, from initial concepts and trend research through to sampling and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Support
  • Assist in designing footwear across a variety of categories including men's, women's and children's products.
  • Support the creation of seasonal concepts, colour palettes, material stories and trend presentations.
  • Produce CADs, technical drawings and presentation boards.
  • Assist in preparing client presentations and design meetings.
  • Carry out market, trend and competitor research.
  • Product Development
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of technical packs & specifications.
  • Help coordinate the development process from concept through to production.
  • Review samples alongside senior designers, recording comments and amendments.
  • Liaise with factories to communicate design updates and development feedback.
  • Help monitor development timelines to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Materials & Sourcing
  • Assist with sourcing materials, components and trims.
  • Maintain the material library and sample archive.
  • Organise incoming samples and development prototypes.
  • Support sustainability and innovation projects where appropriate.
  • Administration & Organisation
  • Prepare and organise design documentation.
  • Maintain development trackers and sample logs.
  • Ensure product information is accurate and up to date.
  • Support the team with day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Assist with showroom preparation for customer meetings.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Footwear Design, Fashion Design, Product Design or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' experience in footwear design or product development
  • A genuine passion for footwear and product design.
  • Good understanding of footwear construction and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with men's, women's and children's footwear categories.
  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a collaborative environment.

Desirable

  • Experience creating CADs and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of footwear materials and components.
  • Experience communicating with overseas factories.
  • Understanding of costing and product development timelines.
  • Awareness of current footwear trends and consumer markets.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft suite.
