Lawrence Sheriff School is an outstanding boys’ grammar school of approximately 1200 students, around 450 of whom are in our coeducational sixth form. As a National Teaching School, we have played a significant role in initial teacher training and continuous professional development across the region. Our Teaching School Hub status also enables us to offer all staff varied and interesting opportunities to enhance their practice.
We are seeking to appoint an energetic and committed teacher to oversee the school’s examined and non‑examined provision in physical education from Years 7‑13 and to build on the already strong participation of students in sport and fitness. The successful candidate would be involved in the redevelopment of the sports facilities at our Hartfield sport area. Hence the person appointed will be required to show vision, imagination and the ability to lead a programme of change.
Excellent leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a high performing team will also be an essential requirement for the post. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and passionate about the role of PE & Sport within education and demonstrate a commitment to driving forward and engage in our substantial extra‑curricular programme. This includes the running of after school clubs and fixtures, as well as planning and leading annual trips to supplement the core curriculum.
