Head of Finance (FMCG)

Our client is a household name and a rapidly growing established food SME, with incredible distribution listed across every single retailer in the UK. They have redefined a classic category with a creative twist. They are looking for a Head of Finance to support their most critical function working alongside a world class CFO. 🚀

Role & Responsibilities

Take full ownership of month-end

• Fix, streamline and accelerate the month-end close to a reliable ~5-day cycle
• Remove unnecessary manual processes and embed scalable, system-led controls

Deliver high-quality management reporting

• Produce clear, insightful management accounts with meaningful variance analysis
• Explain revenue, margin, cost and cash movements; not just report the numbers
• Support group consolidation and multi-entity reporting

Build financial control & rigour

• Own balance sheet integrity, accruals, prepayments, inventory and trade spend
• Oversee AP, expenses, intercompany recharges and transfer pricing with commercial judgement

Commercial business partnering

• Partner with leadership and functional teams on budgets, forecasting, marketing spend and sales performance

Enable scale and future growth

• Lead finance systems (Xero, Unleashed) and prepare the function for £100m+ scale
• Work closely with the CFO with clear scope to expand into a broader group finance role

Do you have the following to apply?

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven industry experience; not straight from audit
• Ideally you are currently a Financial Controller or Head of Finance equivalent in a business with t/o in excess of £10m.
• Background in FMCG strongly preferred (EDI and retailer invoicing experience a plus)
• Systems and process-driven, with a track record of simplifying and improving finance operations
• Commercial, detail-focused and confident bringing structure, discipline and pace to a fast-growth environment
