Due to continued growth and increasing demand for privacy expertise, they are seeking a talented Data Privacy Lawyer to join their established legal and compliance function in London. The Role
As Privacy Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to a broad range of business units, providing strategic and practical guidance on privacy and data protection matters. You will be part of a global privacy function, partnering closely with legal, commercial, technology and operational teams across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a primary point of contact for data privacy and data protection matters across multiple business divisions.
- Advising internal stakeholders on privacy risks, regulatory obligations and best practice compliance approaches.
- Supporting commercial and employment legal teams on privacy-related issues and serving as a subject matter expert across the organisation.
- Assisting with the drafting, review and negotiation of privacy and data protection provisions within commercial agreements.
- Providing guidance on vendor relationships, data partnerships and third-party risk assessments.
- Supporting the development and enhancement of privacy governance frameworks, policies and operational processes.
- Collaborating with global teams to maintain and improve privacy compliance programmes and documentation.
- Delivering privacy training and awareness initiatives across the business.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and advising stakeholders on the practical implications for the organisation.
Experience:
- UK or EU Solicitor (or equivalent) 2.5+ PQE.
- Strong knowledge of UK and European data protection legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience advising on privacy matters within a commercial, technology, digital media, AdTech or data-driven environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and a solutions-focused approach.
Desirable Experience:
- In-house legal experience.
- AdTech, digital advertising, technology or media sector experience.
- Professional privacy qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US or equivalent.
- Experience advising on data-driven products, analytics, measurement, programmatic advertising or digital marketing technologies.
