What's most important is that you're organised, good with numbers, confident communicating with suppliers and have an investigative mind, someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of a query and finding a solution.
The role offers significant flexibility to work from home; however, you will need to attend monthly team meetings locally to the Stevenage area, so candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Finance Officer Job Overview
- Handle incoming calls from suppliers regarding payments and outstanding invoices
- Investigate payment queries and resolve discrepancies
- Manage and triage a busy Finance inbox, ensuring queries are prioritised and followed through
- Process supplier invoices accurately
- Prepare supplier remittance information and support supplier payments
- Build positive relationships with suppliers and provide clear updates
- Reconcile supplier accounts and investigate more complex transactions
- Raise customer invoices where required
- Maintain accurate finance records and information
- Work closely with the wider team to investigate and resolve finance queries
Finance Officer Skills & Experience Required
- Previous finance/accounts experience or AAT qualification/current AAT studies
- Some practical office, administration or customer service experience would be beneficial
- Strong numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Naturally investigative with strong problem-solving skills
- Confident speaking with suppliers and handling queries over the telephone
- Good Excel skills and confidence learning new finance systems
- Organised with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and multiple queries
- Friendly, calm and professional communication style
- Able to work independently while remaining part of a supportive team
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car essential due to monthly Bedford meetings
