An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmaceutical Packaging Components Manager to join a successful and innovative business. This role will take ownership of packaging compliance, sustainability initiatives, and packaging development projects across a diverse product portfolio.
About the Role
As Pharmaceutical Packaging Components Manager, you will be responsible for managing packaging compliance activities, supporting new product introductions, and driving continuous improvement across packaging materials, specifications, and processes. You will act as the central point of contact for packaging projects, ensuring regulatory requirements are met whilst balancing sustainability, commercial considerations, supply chain risk, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the implementation of sustainable and compliant packaging solutions across existing and new products
- Ensure compliance with Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR), Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT)
- Gather, maintain, and submit packaging compliance data accurately and on time
- Work with Production teams to improve packaging efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise materials
- Support new product launches by ensuring packaging is compliant, fit for purpose, and commercially viable
- Maintain packaging technical documentation and specifications
- Liaise with suppliers to source improved packaging materials and formats
- Lead packaging development projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Balance sustainability, cost, supply risk, and performance when making packaging recommendations
- Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on packaging requirements
- Maintain strong alignment between compliance, technical, and operational requirements across the business
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in packaging & supply chain experience, with an understanding of sustainability and compliance requirements - ideally in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Excellent communication skills; can communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- The ability to find practical solutions that balance compliance, sustainability, cost, and operational feasibility
- Experience of managing multiple packaging projects simultaneously, being able to prioritise effectively, and deliver within timelines
- Excellent attention to detail
