An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised and detail‑oriented Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team within a well‑established and industry‑leading business. Working closely with the Financial Accountant, you'll provide essential support across the finance function, ensuring financial information is processed accurately and efficiently while delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
Job Overview
- Process purchase ledger invoices, ensuring accurate matching, coding, and posting
- Support credit control activities, chasing outstanding payments and resolving account queries
- Allocate customer payments and investigate outstanding balances and discrepancies
- Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Reconcile debtor, creditor, and intercompany accounts
- Assist with VAT returns and month‑end finance processes
- Prepare payment runs and process banking transactions
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve finance‑related queries
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and information
- Maintain accurate financial records and provide general finance administration
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance administration role
- Purchase ledger experience is essential
- Good understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping, including assisting with monthly journals
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to work confidently with financial data
- Credit control experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Experience using accounting or ERP systems
