We advise businesses, not-for-profit organisations and individuals on a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues, including recruitment, contracts and policies, discrimination, TUPE and Employment Tribunal claims.

We have an exciting opportunity which has arisen within our Leicester office for an Associate/Senior Associate Solicitor (ideally 2-8 years' PQE but applications outside this range will be considered). The successful candidate will have gained solid Employment Law experience to work with a diverse client base of employers and senior individuals, advising on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

The successful candidate will be working in an experienced and supportive team of Partners and Associates and will play a significant part in supporting and developing our expanding Practice while building strong relationships with clients and referrers.

The Role:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of Employment Law matters, including:
    • Employment contracts, policies and procedures
    • Disciplinary, grievance and capability issues
    • Redundancy and restructuring projects
    • TUPE transfers
    • Settlement agreements
    • Employment Tribunal claims and litigation
    • Discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claims
    • Restrictive covenants and post-termination disputes
    • Day-to-day HR and employment law support for employer clients

The candidate will have the opportunity to manage their own caseload while working collaboratively with experienced colleagues on larger and more complex matters. The successful candidate will possess excellent client care skills and be a confident team player. Supervisory experience of team members would be advantageous. The ideal candidates will be technically strong with an eye for detail and able to communicate effectively. They will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude towards challenges and change, as well as a willingness to embrace Nelsons’ vision and values.

They will be enthusiastic about business development and keen to attend networking and marketing events. The role will also include leading Employment Law Seminars, providing case law updates and facilitating group discussions and debates. Therefore, experience of presenting would also be advantageous.
