We are happy to be working with a global insurance company to assist them in their search for a Trading Underwriter. In this role, you will handle the underwriting of new and renewal business for commercial insurance. You will work towards monthly targets in profitability, conversion, and productivity. This role offers exposure to strategy and products, with a clear path to a senior role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwrite commercial insurance to a high standard
- Build sales and underwriting strategy skills
- Negotiate with brokers and internal teams
- Review and challenge non-standard decisions
- Identify ways to improve processes and customer outcomes
DAY-TO-DAY
- Underwrite commercial policies
- Hit performance targets
- Negotiate and liaise with brokers and colleagues
- Apply underwriting strategy and develop sales skills
- Spot inefficiencies and suggest improvements
EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years in commercial underwriting
- Knowledge of Professional Indemnity; Management Liability and Cyber are a plus
- Strong analytical and logical thinking
- Ideally degree-qualified and working towards CII Diploma
- Confident communicator and presenter
- Skilled at building broker relationships
- Ambitious and self-driven
SKILLS
- Solid commercial underwriting background
- Familiarity with PI, ML, and Cyber (preferred)
