We are helping a growing insurer hire a Senior Commercial Product Development Underwriter to improve and update their SME products. The role focuses on underwriting, product design, and staying in line with regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and refine SME commercial products to align with market needs and business goals
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, compliance, and distribution teams to develop and implement product enhancements
- Support pricing strategies and update policy wordings and terms to improve clarity and performance
- Ensure all product developments meet regulatory standards and internal governance
- Conduct competitor and market research to identify emerging risks and opportunities
- Support product training, documentation, and go-to-market activity across internal and external teams
DAY-TO-DAY
- Work with underwriting and data teams to improve products
- Speak with brokers to gather feedback and share updates
- Ensure documentation and products meet FCA rules
- Support marketing with product info and materials
- Keep up to date with market and regulatory changes
EXPERIENCE
- Background in commercial underwriting, ideally SME
- Experience developing or improving insurance products
- Used to working with different teams across a business
- Good understanding of FCA requirements
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Strong knowledge of SME commercial products
- Confident with pricing and data analysis
- Clear communicator across teams and partners
- Interest in digital and data-led underwriting (a plus)
- Cert CII (or working towards) preferred
