Our client, a leading UK insurer, is looking for a Senior Property Underwriter to join their growing team in Manchester. This is a key role that will allow you to take ownership of an existing property book while also driving growth across commercial and residential property portfolios.
This role is ideal for an experienced underwriter who is comfortable working independently and able to manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, allowing you to hit the ground running.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take full responsibility for underwriting mid-market commercial and residential property risks
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio while seeking opportunities to expand
- Work closely with regional brokers, building and maintaining strong relationships, particularly face-to-face
- Collaborate with the UK commercial and casualty teams to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions
- Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and help shape the property underwriting strategy
- Travel to London and Glasgow offices as required to liaise with key brokers and clients
DAY-TO-DAY
- Review and assess property risk submissions, ensuring appropriate terms and conditions are applied
- Work closely with brokers and clients to ensure timely responses and underwriting decisions
- Ensure the accurate pricing and evaluation of risk for both commercial and residential property sectors
- Regular face-to-face meetings with regional brokers to foster relationships and promote business growth
- Support the team in driving the overall success of the property portfolio
SKILLS
- Strong underwriting knowledge in property, particularly for commercial and residential risks
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage brokers effectively
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently to manage and grow a book of business
