Purpose of Role
We are supporting a well-established insurance provider seeking a Field-Based Commercial Underwriter. The role focuses on providing underwriting support to brokers in the South East, primarily managing commercial combined risks and corporate accounts. This home‑based role includes regular travel to broker sites, offering flexibility and a supportive working environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and negotiate large commercial accounts, delivering market‑leading underwriting propositions
- Support brokers in achieving strong underwriting results and profitable growth
- Build and maintain effective relationships, providing coaching and technical guidance
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless portfolio management
Day‑to‑Day
- Visit broking panel regularly across the South East to provide hands‑on underwriting support
- Manage a portfolio of commercial combined risks, handling complex cases
- Plan and balance visits with home‑based responsibilities
- Complete an initial training period focused on developing technical knowledge
- Engage in ongoing professional development
Experience & Requirements
- Proven commercial underwriting experience with complex and technical case management
- Ability to coach and build strong relationships with brokers and stakeholders
- Experience with commercial combined risks and principal accounts preferred
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
