Job Title: Existing Business Underwriter
Location: City of London
PURPOSE OF ROLE
- To build and maintain strong broker relationships while delivering a high level of service within agreed SLAs. You’ll work collaboratively with the team to support Private Clients / HNW business, ensuring excellent customer outcomes and compliance with regulatory standards.
DAY TO DAY
- Provide renewal invites to brokers within SLA deadlines.
- Action mid-term adjustments and cancellations promptly.
- Handle broker calls in a professional and friendly manner.
- Work through renewal queries to maximise retention.
- Operate within underwriting licence and refer cases appropriately.
- Support colleagues by acting as a referral point when needed.
RESPONIBILITIES
- Build and maintain professional relationships with brokers.
- Deliver a collaborative underwriting approach using both underwriting guides and senior colleague expertise.
- Take initiative to improve processes and contribute to wider team goals.
- Ensure compliance with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles and regulatory standards.
- Promote positive outcomes for customers through fair and pragmatic underwriting decisions.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ Private Client / HNW underwriting experience.
- Proven ability to manage renewals, MTAs, and cancellations within strict SLAs.
- Background in working with brokers and building long-term relationships.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements in the insurance sector.
SKILLS
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational ability with the capacity to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and a strong team player.
- (Desirable) Dip CII or ACII qualifications or working towards.
