We’re recruiting on behalf of a long-standing, client-focused Chartered Insurance Broker who is looking for an experienced Commercial Claims Handler. You’ll manage a variety of commercial and personal claims from start to finish, acting as a trusted liaison between clients and insurers to ensure smooth, fair resolutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the full lifecycle of commercial and personal claims including but not limited to Property, Liability, Motor Fleet, Professional Indemnity, and Cyber
- Ensure proactive claims handling – communicating promptly with clients, insurers, and third parties
- Negotiate settlements with insurers and ensure claims are resolved efficiently and fairly
- Keep clients updated regularly, ensuring clarity, support, and guidance throughout the process
- Maintain accurate case records and a structured diary to track progress on all open files
- Support the wider business by preparing summary reports and insights on key claims
- Promote best practices in compliance with FCA regulations and internal policies
DAY-TO-DAY
- Reviewing and registering new claims swiftly, acknowledging correspondence
- Liaising with insurers to progress and monitor claim outcomes
- Gathering documentation and evidence to assess liability and coverage
- Monitoring outstanding claims through diary management systems
- Supporting account executives on complex and high-value cases
- Staying up to date with industry trends and regulatory updates, particularly within the childcare insurance sector
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development activities
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years’ experience handling claims within the commercial insurance market
- A sound understanding of various classes of business (Liability, Property, Motor, Financial Lines, etc.)
- GCSE A-C grade (5 minimum) must include Maths and English
SKILLS
- Strong communication – both written and verbal – with a client-first approach.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Confident when negotiating settlements and defending client positions
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Able to collaborate within a team while also managing an independent workload
