An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Account Executive to join a well-established and highly respected Chartered insurance broker in West Yorkshire, part of one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing independent broking groups. The purpose of the role is to take ownership of an existing book of long-standing, loyal commercial clients while actively driving new business growth across the region. You will act as the face of the business for your clients – providing expert advice, building strong relationships and delivering tailored insurance and risk management solutions – all with the support of a dedicated and capable Account Handling team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Retain and grow an existing book of commercial clients, with a clear focus on growth.
- Develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, leads and self-generated prospecting.
- Understand each client’s business operations, opportunities and risks, and their approach to risk management and insurance.
- Offer and present insurance solutions, including insurance policies and other risk management solutions, to secure renewals and new business.
- Negotiate with insurers to achieve the best outcomes for clients in terms of cover, service and premium.
- Work closely with Account Handlers and colleagues to deliver excellent client service and achieve team objectives.
- Ensure all activity is conducted in line with FCA regulations and internal compliance procedures.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Managing your own portfolio of commercial clients, acting as their key point of contact.
- Meeting clients and prospects face-to-face and virtually to review their insurance programmes and identify opportunities.
- Preparing and delivering presentations, reports and renewal proposals.
- Liaising with insurers, underwriters and internal teams to structure and place risks.
- Maintaining accurate records and keeping the client management system up to date.
- Communicating regularly with colleagues and your manager to raise concerns, share solutions and support team performance.
EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as an Account Executive (or similar client-facing role) within commercial insurance broking.
- A strong general commercial background across a range of classes, e.g. property, casualty, motor fleet and liability.
- A track record of retaining clients and winning new business.
- Experience of working with mid-market commercial clients would be advantageous.
- Cert CII qualified (or working towards) is desirable, with support provided for further professional study.

- Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation and influencing ability with clients and insurers alike.
- Commercially astute, self-motivated and driven to achieve growth targets.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage a busy and varied portfolio.

- Full UK driving licence.
