Job Description

Job title:  Property and Motor Senior Claims Handler

Salary: £60,000

Location: London/Hybrid - 3 days in the office 

PURPOSE OF ROLE

On behalf of our client, a leading insurer, we are seeking a skilled Property and Motor Senior Claims Adjuster to join their London-based Claims Management Department. This role is central to managing claims from first notification to final settlement, with a focus on property and motor, and some exposure to liability. The successful candidate will ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality service, while contributing to process improvement and broader claims operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage end-to-end claims, from notification to settlement
  • Set up claim files and gather all necessary documentation
  • Appoint and liaise with external experts (e.g.loss adjusters, engineers, solicitors)
  • Handle broker, policyholder, and third-party queries professionally
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and negotiate fair settlements
  • Support the Departmental Manager on high-impact claims
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping within the internal claims system
  • Participate in internal/external meetings and represent the company when required
  • Assist other teams as necessary and act in the company's best interest 

DAY-TO-DAY 

  • Triage new claims and take appropriate early action
  • Liaise with brokers and clients to progress claims efficiently
  • Work with internal teams and third-party providers to drive outcomes
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate claim records
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to departmental coordination
  • Provide flexible support across the Claims Management team 

EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum 5 years in a claims-handling role
  • Strong expertise in property claims; motor and liability experience is a plus
  • Proven track record in managing complex claims to successful resolution
  • Familiarity with relevant insurance regulations and best practices 

SKILLS 

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Detail-oriented with solid organisational and documentation abilities
  • Commercial awareness and sound negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
