About the Role

To deliver regional gross written premium (GWP), income and profit targets by providing an efficient service to brokers, supporting the management of the regional account in line with the regional strategy, financial plan and individual objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver profitability, growth and expense targets by managing performance against the region's key performance indicators.
  • Handle renewals and mid-term adjustments of varying complexity within authority and binder limits, with authority level set according to knowledge, experience and qualifications.
  • Build the organisation's local standing by developing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at the region's most important brokers.
  • Contribute to income and GWP objectives while working towards the business's annual target loss ratios and rate targets.
  • Ensure survey requests, survey overviews and policy documentation are processed correctly, keeping all relevant reporting tools up to date.
  • Carry out regular case reviews to confirm technical procedures and standards are being followed, in line with company QA procedures.
  • Support the wider technical knowledge of the business by feeding back technical and commercial market intelligence to the regional director and team.
  • Keep personal technical knowledge current.
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation, particularly with the claims and survey teams, as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Cert CII, with Dip CII (or progress towards it) preferred.

Required Skills

  • A solid understanding of the insurance market, with at least three years' experience in commercial underwriting or broking.
  • A track record of developing and managing broker accounts.
  • The ability to negotiate flexibly and appropriately while managing a profitable portfolio.
  • Experience renewing and managing individual cases and books of business, with effective selling skills and a range of influencing and negotiation approaches.
  • Strong risk perception and risk selection skills, with the ability to price risk accordingly.
  • A demonstrated ability to build effective trading relationships, consistently meet goals and objectives, and trade successfully in the insurance marketplace.
  • Experience working across functions and within a matrix organisation to collaborate and build strong relationships.
