Our client is a newly established Managing General Agent bringing a fresh commercial combined / SME proposition to market. About the Role
We are looking for a Commercial Underwriter who is equally comfortable underwriting individual cases to a high technical standard and contributing to the wider build of the MGA from product design and rating logic through to the underwriting platform and referral framework.
Responsibilities
- You will work closely with the Head of Underwriting, pricing/actuarial, distribution and IT/change colleagues.
- You will be a genuine builder as much as an underwriter.
- Managing and maintaining broker and client relationships.
- Underwrite cross-class commercial business.
- Handle referrals that fall outside of authority.
- Build and maintain capacity relationships.

- Enjoys the structure and discipline of case underwriting.
- Energised by the ambiguity and pace of a start-up environment.
- Wants direct input into decisions that are normally made several layers above an underwriter's desk.
