Moralis is launching a specialist Commercial Property Owners and Commercial Unoccupied MGA focused on disciplined underwriting, service‑led distribution, and a sub‑30% loss ratio across all product lines.

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter who will initially support the Head of Underwriting and transition into a Deputy Head of Underwriting role within 12–18 months as the business scales.

This is not a traditional underwriting role.

The position is designed for a commercially astute relationship builder who understands property underwriting deeply and can represent the business externally with credibility and authority.

  • Act as a senior representative of the MGA to brokers and capacity partners.
  • Develop and manage strategic broker relationships.
  • Support performance reporting and capacity dialogue.
  • Oversee referral decisions, particularly around claims.
  • Deputise for the Head of Underwriting when required.

The role is weighted towards relationship management and commercial oversight rather than day‑to‑day transactional underwriting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Broker Relationship Management (Primary Focus)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key regional and independent commercial brokers.
  • Identify profitable books suitable for transfer.
  • Support onboarding of new broker partners.
  • Conduct broker visits.
  • Ensure appetite clarity and consistent underwriting message.
  • Monitor broker‑level and whole‑account profitability and performance.
  • Proactively manage underperforming relationships.
  • Market & Capacity Engagement
  • Attend monthly capacity meetings.
  • Present underwriting performance summaries.
  • Support discussion around loss ratio trends, RBR movement, aggregation monitoring, and referral trends.
  • Represent the MGA professionally in capacity discussions.
  • Assist in strategic planning discussions.
  • Technical Oversight & Referral Management
  • Review claims referrals outside TPA authority limits.
  • Ensure underwriting discipline and pricing integrity.
  • Support maintenance of rating tables and appetite controls.
  • Aiding Moralis Limited in obtaining full FCA authorization.
  • Reporting & MI Oversight
  • Review system‑generated underwriting and claims performance reports.
  • Identify early warning trends.
  • Support quarterly pricing adequacy reviews.
  • Contribute to annual product review.
  • Future Development (12–18 Months)
  • Formal appointment as Deputy Head of Underwriting (subject to performance).

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years property underwriting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Property Owners and Unoccupied Property.
  • Demonstrated broker relationship management capability.
  • Experience handling referrals and complex risk decisions.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to delegated authority / MGA structures.
  • Involvement in capacity reporting.
  • Understanding of loss ratio management and RBR concepts.
  • Experience with performance‑led portfolio management.
  • Experience operating on Acturis or equivalent software house.
  • Knowledge of Residential Property to support future product expansion.
